Every Transmission we build receives the following services as standard:
Tear down
Drivetrain items are carefully disassembled and inspection reports are filed. When it comes to upgrades and services we will assist by explaining all the options and the pro’s & con’s, so you yourself can easily make the wise choice when it comes to what you really need and not just what we can sell you.
Hot tank degreasing
We use a high pressure hot tank and mild biodegradable detergents remove the toughest soils leaving no residue your cleaned parts. Your transmission parts come out so squeaky clean, you could eat off them.
Contact pattern analysis
Gear contact patterns are noted for potential trouble and will be compared against the final assembly patterns.
Wet magnaflux crack inspection
We use a wet magnaflux machine detect cracks that you can’t see with the naked eye. Think of it this way, would you go to a surgeon who doesn’t use an X-ray machine?
Oil passageway modifications
We modify the oiling passages to improve lubrication in the transmission which has proven to reduce transmission temps and increase life of various components.
Upgraded magnet
The OEM trash magnet is weak, it can hardly hold a post card on your refrigerator. We replace them with a super strong neodymium magnet to keep debris out of the oil, increasing the life of the transmission.
Final inspection & assembly
With a thorough understanding of what needs to be done to improve durability backed by army of machines and specialized tooling are experts in the arena of inspecting gear contact patterns and making corrections to both the transmission case and gearsets to insure a proper and full uniform tooth contact for maximum durability.
Shipping Service
TRE offers the best transmission shipping service. Our double wall boxes are larger and provide the best protection in the industry against damage during shipping & handling. We care about your drivetrain components.
TRE builds the best transmissions for your high power DSM. Our transmissions are proven, durable, and shift well in the fastest DSMs. We are your last stop before a dogbox.
The parts replaced in all AWD DSM rebuilds:
New 1st/2nd shift fork
The 1st/2nd shift fork in a DSM transmission does a tough job and over time it’ll wear out and lead to incomplete 2nd gear shifts.
New 3rd/4th shift fork
The 3rd/4th shift fork is prone to wearing out if the vehicle is making serious power or has been running the wrong oil. A worn shift fork will cause sloppy shifting into 3rd & 4th gears and leads to incomplete shifts that tend to grind during engagement.
New 1st/2nd hub & sleeve
Modified & clearanced for better synchronization during those fast 1st to 2nd gear shifts.
New 3rd/4th hub & sleeve
Modified & clearanced for better synchronization and faster shifts.
New synchros
TRE has always used Genuine Mitsubishi bronze synchronizers in their builds because they work the best.
New double synchro 2nd gear
TRE takes a new double synchro 2nd gear and modifies the engagement teeth for quicker engagement during those fast 2nd gear shifts. For over 20 years TRE has been removing the lip to increase the 2nd gear synchronizer service life as standard practice.
New synchro keys
Worn synchro keys are replaced with new keys for better synchronization.
New TRE high tension synchro springs
TRE originally started started installing double springs on the 1st/2nd hub sleeve assemblies in 1989. In 2002, TRE had custom springs made that have twice the tension of the factory springs that don’t jump out of the keys like the factory springs, doubled up or not.
New input shaft tapered roller bearings
Bearings are designed to have a certain amount of preload or clearance on them for long service life. TRE uses Genuine Mitsubishi bearings, making sure they are set right on the money, through proper techniques that provide the longest bearing life while holding the gearsets tight.
New intermediate shaft tapered roller bearings
Bearings are designed to have a certain amount of preload or clearance on them for long service life. TRE uses Genuine Mitsubishi bearings, making sure they are set right on the money, through proper techniques that provide the longest bearing life while holding the gearsets tight.
New needle bearings
Damaged & worn needle bearings are replaced with new ones making for a quiet running transmission.
New center differential bottom bronze faced thrust shim & spider gear washers
TRE used the stronger designed bronze faced thrust shim that better resists splitting. The center diff housings is CNC machined to allow use of double washers on the spider gears. This doubles the surface area of the washers preventing them from galling and seizing.
New center differential Torrington bearing
The factory center diff was prone to failures because the OEM thrust shim would gall & seize to the cover. The Torrington bearing upgrade fixes this problem.
